Born and raised in the Philippines, Imee Rafael has loved cooking since she was nine years old. Her passion for food led her to study Food Technology and spend seven years working as a Food Technologist before moving to New Zealand in 2015.

Through Fili Pinoy Pantry, Imee is bringing authentic Filipino flavours to New Zealand homes. Her signature product, Cheese Pimiento Spread, combines creamy cheese with smoky roasted capsicum, creating a nostalgic taste of home for many Filipinos while introducing Kiwi families to a beloved Filipino classic.

Imee joined The Kitchen Project to turn her long-held dream of owning a food business into reality. With support from mentors and fellow graduates, she gained the confidence to launch and grow her brand. Highlights of the programme included presenting her products at tasting sessions and becoming part of a supportive community of food entrepreneurs.

Looking ahead, Imee hopes to expand Fili Pinoy Pantry into a range of Filipino pantry staples, grow its presence in stores across New Zealand, and continue sharing the flavours and traditions she loves with a wider audience.
