Food and Whānau at Our First Alumni Gathering of 2025

Under the summer sun our first alumni gathering of 2025 was held at The Kitchen Project’s city HQ in the Albert Park cottage on 15 January. What a way to start the year. More than just a catch up, it was a celebration of connection, collaboration and everything that makes The Kitchen Project so special.

This event marked a full circle moment as we welcomed back one of our very own, the incredible Sreshta Sridhar, The Kitchen Project’s original programme manager from 2017 to 2022, visiting from London. Surrounded by alumni, current mentors and friends of the project, Sreshta’s presence reminded us just how far we’ve come and how strong our foundations are.

From the very first cohort to our most recent graduates, we had 11 alumni in the room, each bringing something delicious, each with their own story, drive and flavour. These are the moments that make our community powerful, when shared food becomes shared learning and inspiration flows as freely as the conversation.

For many, it was a chance to reconnect with fellow entrepreneurs, offer advice, create new food collaborations and even get a taste of the food trends about to hit Auckland’s ever evolving food scene from our businesses.

Our alumni events are a living example of what The Kitchen Project stands for. They show that when you join The Kitchen Project, you’re not just gaining access to a food business programme, you’re entering a vibrant, supportive whānau that continues to grow alongside you. Whether you’re launching your first product, scaling your operations or looking to connect with others on a similar path, these moments are where ideas spark and futures form.

Here’s to another year of flavour, friendship and food business success. And if you’re a food or beverage entrepreneur ready to take your idea to the next stage, now’s your chance.

Apply now to join our next cohort and become part of The Kitchen Project whānau. Programmes are held in both central Auckland and Pukekohe.
