Born and raised in Johannesburg to Yugoslav immigrant parents, Nataly is the founder of The Chocolate Martini grew up in a household where creativity, precision, and care were part of daily life. Her father, a stonemason, taught her craftsmanship and attention to detail, while her mother instilled a deep appreciation for quality food. Years later, while studying pharmacy, she became fascinated by cocoa butter’s structure — unknowingly planting the seed for her future passion. That early scientific curiosity evolved into a love of chocolate-making, where she blends science and artistry to create beautifully balanced bonbons.
The Chocolate Martini is a boutique chocolate brand crafting small-batch bonbons for adults who value quality and indulgence. Each piece is handmade in limited quantities, combining precise technique with creative design. For its founder, working with chocolate is a way to unite her scientific background with her artistic side, encouraging people to slow down and savour something truly special.
Nataly joined The Kitchen Project to learn how to transform her passion into a sustainable business, gaining knowledge in production, compliance, and business planning. The programme has provided not only practical guidance but also a sense of community and mentorship unlike anything she has experienced before.
In the next five years, she envisions The Chocolate Martini growing into a recognised boutique brand, known for its craftsmanship and distinctive flavours. Her vision includes expanding into curated retail and corporate gifting, collaborating with local New Zealand artisans and distilleries, and continuing to share joy through exquisite, thoughtfully made chocolate.
